These trees were originally created as part of the 2010 art installation I stewarded called Memortrees, which featured 13 of these trees, each 8’ tall. Inspired by the theme “Evolution”, the invitation of the interactive piece was to share future memories in writing on leaves… written in the past tense as if they already happened. Over the week the piece was up, the trees ‘bloomed’ with the imagined remembered. Activated.

At the essence of these trees is the power of thought (focus, awareness, intention, imagination). What do we put out attention on and why? Attention is energy.

This particular 13” tree is No. 41 as part of the open-edition as women and men continue to take stewardship of these icons for free will. The tree is hand-stamped at the base… made of the same aluminum as the original 8’ trees… exists as two pieces… and comes with a pouch of 13 miniature leaves (w/ adorable little clothespins) so you can activate your own future memories at will.
