Who am i?

While my birth name is Robert (Bengtson), a few years ago friends began calling me Roban;

An independent photographer and visual artist for nearly three decades, throughout has been a joy, honor, and intention to use creativity in life-affirming ways. Whether it’s an authentic headshot, commercial photography for a local business, or interactive art and meaningful experiences to uplift and inspire the human spirit… at the essence has been my own curiosity and awe with this experience of being in this realm we call ‘home’.

I arrived here in the Spring of 1969 while my parents were living in Milan, Italy. Moving back to the states at 3-months, I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and eventually found myself as an undergraduate at Brown University, which is where I took an introductory to photography class at the Rhode Island School of Design that unexpectedly started my photography and creative career.

I’ve called the San Francisco Bay Area my home since 1990, loving this land where the redwoods meet the mountain meets the sea meets the open mind.
