Bell - No. 2

Bell - No. 2
I found this unique icon in the back corner of an enchanting antique shop while taking the long way from San Francisco to LA. Passing through a little town in my truck, I have the thought that an antique shop in a place like this would probably provide some gems. A few moments later I turn to my left and see an “Antique Store” sign on a building for a half second before I blew by. I take the next exit, venture back, and do, indeed, find some fabulous things. This simple, beautiful bell being one of them.
Forged from a time when the simple things were made with pride and built to last, this bell has a history we’ll likely never know. How I love a good patina! How many times, indeed, has she sent a ring out into the world? For what… and for whom… did she toll?
Where from the looks of her, she can ring for a hundred years more.
One of the reasons I particularly love bells is how they are said to embody the archetypal energy of the feminine power, wisdom, creativity, and love. Where the sound of the bell (like all creation) arises and dissolves into the silence of the clear void from which everything (in duality) arises and returns. Creation and dissolution. Intention and choice.
Let this bell be the icon it is for quality, craftsmanship, creativity, and now.
For what will you ring her?
